Job summary

Bon Secours is seeking a Clinical Unit Leader for Southside Medical Center, Petersburg. The Lead RN/Charge Nurse coordinates patient care on a designated unit, aligning with the Clinical Manager to promote excellence in practice and patient experience.

You will supervise staff, ensure safety and quality standards, and act as a clinical resource while fostering teamwork and communication across departments.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred prior to entering patient care setting.
• Certifications may be required based on unit overseen (PALS, ACLS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, NBCSN, Nurse Executive Certification).

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient care on a designated unit under the supervision of Clinical Manager.
• Guides staff, provides clinical support, and oversees unit in the leader's absence.
• Maintains infection control and safety standards; utilizes supplies and equipment.
• Communicates with patients and families about nursing interventions and care plans.
• Rounds on patients to assess safety, quality, and experience.
• Serves as a resource to staff, patients, and families for effective communication.
• Acts as a clinical resource and may serve as a preceptor.
• Participates in interprofessional collaboration for care coordination and continuity.
• Resolves operational problems with other departments as needed.
• Participates in quality monitoring and performance improvement activities.
• Facilitates patient placement and safe admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
