Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Clinical Unit Leader at Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, VA. The Lead RN/Charge Nurse coordinates patient care on a designated unit, guiding staff and utilizing nursing processes to promote clinical excellence and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities include staffing, mentoring, safety compliance, effective communication with patients and families, and interprofessional collaboration to ensure smooth care delivery and optimal unit performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred).
• Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact.
• BSL Basic Life Support preferred.
• Unit-specific certifications may be required (e.g., PALS, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care on a designated unit.
• Lead and mentor nursing staff and preceptors.
• Ensure safety, quality, and patient experience on the unit.
• Communicate with patients and families regarding care plans.
• Oversee admissions, transfers, and discharges to optimize flow.
• Collaborate with interprofessional teams to improve outcomes.
