Job summary

South Texas Health System seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to lead nursing care for patients admitted or seen for medical or surgical conditions. You will assess, plan, guide, and evaluate nursing care in accordance with facility policy and standards.

The role requires current Texas RN licensure (compact state accepted), a BSN preferred, and active BLS certification with unit-specific ACLS/NRP as applicable. Flexibility for weekends/holidays/evenings/nights/on-call may be needed.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Texas or compact state; BSN preferred.
• Associate Degree, BSN or Diploma from a nursing school/university.
• Must maintain BLS and unit-specific certificates (ARC/AHA).
• Certification requirements: ACLS/NRP as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Manage patients admitted or seen for medical/surgical conditions; provide professional nursing leadership.
• Assess, plan, guide, and evaluate nursing care in line with facility policies and philosophy.
• Oversee nursing staff under supervision and coordinate with hospital/ancillary departments.
• Provide service excellence and be flexible for weekends/holidays/evenings/nights/on-call when needed.
