Job summary

Norfolk Naval Shipyard in the United States seeks a RIGGER LEADER to manage the Production Rigging Branch and lead a team of riggers in weight handling operations. You will plan, lay out, install and inspect rigging gear, ensuring safe, efficient work in open or confined spaces, with occasional crane use.

You will mentor junior riggers, enforce safety and clean work sites, and coordinate with supervisors to resolve issues during complex lifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to lead or supervise and mentor riggers.
• Plan, lay out, install, and inspect rigging gear for complex operations.
• Ability to follow rigging practices and escalate issues to supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Plan, layout, install and inspect rigging gear used for weight handling.
• Rig and move objects in open or confined spaces with or without cranes.
• Follow standard rigging practices and resolve issues with the supervisor.
• Lead three or more employees performing WG-5210-10 level work.
• Instruct riggers on inspection techniques and safety regulations.
