Job summary

Axon is seeking a founding Senior Electrical Engineer focused on radio hardware to own architecture, integration, and validation of multi-radio systems for mission-critical devices. You will drive bring-up, RF testing, certification, and mass production in collaboration with RF, Systems, Mechanical, Firmware, and Manufacturing teams.

You will travel up to 50% domestically and contribute within a hybrid model at one of our regional hubs in New York City, Boston, or Scottsdale, AZ.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of electrical, radio hardware, or RF electronics design experience.
• Chip-down radio design or board-level integration of wireless transceivers/modems.
• Strong experience with LMR, LTE/cellular, broadband wireless, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS, or similar.
• Experience designing and debugging RF circuitry (transceivers, front ends, filtering, matching, switching, clocks).
• Understanding of RF coexistence, interference, desense, isolation, harmonics, EMI/EMC in multi-radio products.
• Experience integrating multiple radios into compact, battery-powered hardware.
• Proficient with Cadence OrCAD/Allegro for schematics/PCB.
• Hands-on hardware bring-up and debugging with RF test equipment.
• Experience collaborating with antenna, mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers.
• Proven track record from concept to mass production for radio hardware.
• Experience with US/international wireless, EMC, regulatory certifications.
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Radio & Chip-Down Design: own board-level implementation of radio chipsets and circuitry across LMR, LTE/cellular, and broadband wireless.
• Radio Architecture: translate requirements into hardware architectures, evaluate chipsets and interfaces.
• Schematic & PCB Implementation: develop and review schematics and PCB for RF transceivers and front-end components.
• RF Integration & Coexistence: design and validate multi-radio systems considering interference and EMI/EMC.
• LMR & Cellular Integration: solve hardware challenges integrating LMR with cellular tech in compact devices.
• Antenna & Mechanical Integration: collaborate on antenna placement, RF routing and enclosure RF performance.
• Bring-Up & Debugging: lead bring-up, characterization, root-cause analysis with RF test gear.
• Certification & Production: drive verification, regulatory/carrier certification, EVT/DVT/PVT, ramp to mass production.
• Technical Leadership: provide direction with chipset vendors, ODMs/JDMs, and internal teams.
