Job summary

Axon is seeking a founding Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in radio hardware and chip-down design to own architecture, integration, development, and validation of multi-radio systems for mission-critical hardware.

You will lead bring-up, RF validation, and certification, guiding cross-functional teams across RF, Systems, Mechanical, Firmware, and Manufacturing to deliver robust, battery-powered devices with best-in-class performance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of electrical/radio hardware/RF design experience with a BA/EE degree.
• Experience with chip-down radio design or board-level integration of wireless transceivers/modems.
• Strong experience with LMR, LTE/cellular, broadband wireless, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS, or similar systems.
• Designing and debugging RF circuitry including transceivers, RF front ends, filtering, matching, and power delivery.
• Understanding RF coexistence, interference, desense, isolation, EMI/EMC in multi-radio products.
• Experience integrating multiple radios into compact, battery-powered hardware.
• Hands-on schematic/PCB design using Cadence OrCAD/Allegro.
• Bring-up and debugging with RF test equipment.
• Partnering with antenna, mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers to optimize end-to-end RF performance.

Responsibilities

• Own board-level implementation and integration of radio chipsets across LMR, LTE/cellular, and broadband wireless.
• Translate requirements into radio hardware architectures and perform system-level tradeoffs.
• Develop and review schematics and PCB implementations for RF transceivers and related circuitry.
• Design and validate multi-radio systems addressing coexistence, desense, interference, and EMI/EMC.
• Solve hardware challenges integrating LMR with cellular and other wireless tech.
• Collaborate on antenna placement, RF routing, shielding, grounding, and enclosure RF performance.
• Lead radio hardware bring-up, characterization, and root-cause analysis with RF test equipment.
• Drive radio hardware through certification, EVT/DVT/PVT, manufacturing ramp, and mass production.
• Provide technical direction on radio hardware architecture with external vendors and partners.
