Job summary

The Assistant Restaurant Manager leads daily restaurant and bar operations at The Grill, within The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, reporting to Restaurant Management. You will guide the service team, uphold luxury standards, and help develop staff to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

Focused on operational leadership, you will support cross-outlet collaboration, staff training, and guest satisfaction while maintaining brand integrity and service excellence across the resort.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of relevant experience and/or training.
• Experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant environment preferred.
• Experience running a shift, scheduling, performance management, problem-solving, and day-to-day operations.
• Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
• Experience with POS systems (MICROS, Aloha) and OpenTable is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and maintain AAA Five Diamond and brand service standards across all assigned outlets.
• Promote personalized service, attention to detail, and memorable dining experiences.
• Ensure the quality, presentation, and consistency of all food and beverage offerings meet resort standards and exceed guest expectations through execution.
• Maintain a hands-on presence during service to guide execution and guest interactions.
• Ensure prompt and effective resolution of guest concerns or service recovery needs.
• Collaborate with hotel departments to support cross-functional initiatives and guest experiences.
• Recruit, train, coach, and mentor team members to sustain a high-performing culture.
• Ensure training programs are executed and participate in performance evaluations.
• Promote teamwork and employee engagement aligned with company values.
• Address performance issues promptly and in line with HR policies.
• Maintain a house bank and conform to cash-handling procedures.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including health and sanitation laws.
