Job summary

WSP in the United States seeks a Renewable Energy Electrical Engineering Lead in Buffalo, NY, with flexibility to consider NY, IL, CO, and TX locations. You will lead design, engineering, and guidance for DC and LV/MV systems in distributed generation projects across commercial and industrial sectors, including solar, BESS, and PV+BESS.

You will supervise cross-functional teams, review calculations and drawings, ensure safety and code compliance, develop plans and cost estimates, and mentor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience as an electrical engineer delivering design for renewable energy projects at distribution/utility scale.
• Professional Engineer license or obtainable within 1 year.
• Strong knowledge of electrical interconnection design and permitting processes.
• Familiarity with protection & controls, DAS/SCADA, and data/telecommunications.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, engineering, and guidance for DC/LV/MV systems for small- to large-scale renewable energy projects.
• Develop and review electrical models, calculations, drawings, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA/NEC/IEEE/NEC standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage cross-functional teams across multiple projects, including budgets and timelines.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders and clients.
