Job summary

The position requires a minimum of 2 years in a Registered Dietitian role with healthcare experience; graduate degree preferred for exam eligibility as of 2024, with licensure to obtain Texas LD within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian, including 1 year in healthcare.
• RD credential by the Commission on Dietetic Registration; license to practice in Texas within 6 months of hire if not currently held.
• Graduate degree required for certification exam eligibility after Jan 1, 2024 (grandfathered for those who qualify).

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operations for nutrition care within the department, including staffing, coverage schedules, and care administration.
• Supervises and counsels staff, ensuring department policies and duties are followed.
• Manages departmental payroll activities including timekeeping and attendance logs.
• Demonstrates mastery of nutrition care including medical nutrition therapy and nutrition-focused assessments.
• Leads quality improvement initiatives and participates in research protocols within the department.
• Collaborates with healthcare team to coordinate patient nutrition care and program goals.
• Oversees educational programs and precepting of dietetic interns; supports continued education.
• Promotes staff participation in department and institutional improvement efforts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or related field
