Mi-Jack Products, Inc. in Hazel Crest, IL is seeking a Lead Software Development Engineer for Machine Control Systems. You will drive real-time embedded control software, full-stack development, and integration with heavy machinery hardware.

The role requires 10+ years in product development, strong motion control skills, and a proven ability to mentor teams, define software lifecycles, and collaborate across time zones. This is an on-site, full-time position with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Accredited engineering degree in electrical/computer engineering or computer science.
• Minimum 10+ years of product development experience in heavy equipment or related industries.
• Strong knowledge of motion control software and embedded systems.
• Proficiency with C/C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink; familiarity with EtherCAT, CAN, Modbus, and Ethernet/IP.

Responsibilities

• Mentor software engineers and lead automation projects across time zones.
• Lead the full software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
• Collaborate with vehicle systems, electrical, and other stakeholders to define requirements and integrate systems.
• Define and govern software lifecycle infrastructure, including version control, branching, and release practices.
• Develop project plans, track progress, and manage risks to ensure on-time delivery.
• Implement coding standards and best practices for reliability and maintainability.
• Stay current on programmable hardware trends and industry standards.
• Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team and with external partners.
• Oversee development and release of software components and ensure integration with broader architecture.
• Build strong relationships with international teams and suppliers.
