Job summary

North American Rail Solutions seeks a Foreman I to lead daily track maintenance and construction activities. You will oversee field crews, ensure safety and quality standards, and coordinate with project managers to deliver work on schedule in an outdoor environment.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive railroad track experience, and the ability to read blueprints and FRA regulations. You will train crew members, report progress, and maintain documentation in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: At least 5 years in railroad/track maintenance plus 1 year in supervision.
• Knowledge: Read blueprints and grade plans; FRA regulations and track maintenance standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily crew activities and briefings focusing on goals, safety, and performance.
• Delegate tasks based on crew capabilities and assist with labor.
• Perform inspections and quality checks to ensure standards.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment and tools safely.
• Perform basic repairs such as gaging, rail swaps, and tamping.
• Monitor safety, enforce PPE, and ensure FRA compliance.
• Identify hazards and report deviations from plans.
• Coordinate schedules with project managers, clients, and crew.
• Maintain accurate reports, timesheets, logs, and project documentation.
• Promote a safe, professional work environment.
• Engage in safety training and incident reporting.
• Train and mentor crew members for skill development.
• Respond to emergencies and assist in incident resolution.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
