Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in railroad maintenance with supervisory experience, strong leadership and blueprint-reading skills, and the ability to operate heavy equipment on outdoor sites under varying weather.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of railroad/track maintenance experience with at least 1 year in a supervisory/management role.
• Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and grade plans.
• Knowledge of FRA regulations and track maintenance standards.
• Proficient in basic computer applications.
• Skilled in safe operation of tools and heavy equipment.
• Professional demeanor, integrity, and reliability.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving job requirements.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily crew activities and safety briefings to review goals and performance.
• Delegate tasks based on crew capabilities and assist with labor.
• Perform inspections and quality checks to ensure standards are met.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
• Perform basic repairs (e.g., gaging, rail swaps, switch components, tamping).
• Monitor job site safety, enforce PPE use, and FRA/regulatory compliance.
• Identify and report hazards, equipment malfunctions, and deviations from plans.
• Coordinate with project managers and clients to align schedules and resolve issues.
• Maintain reports, timesheets, equipment logs, and project documentation.
• Promote a professional, safety-focused work environment.
• Engage in safety training and incident reporting/resolution.
• Train and mentor crew members to develop skills and safety awareness.
