Job summary

ILC Dover is seeking a Lead Quality Engineer to guide quality assurance activities across spacesuit and space system programs. You will drive investigations, implement corrective actions, and ensure product conformity with customer and regulatory requirements.

The role emphasizes leadership, mentoring, and collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams to sustain operational excellence and on-time delivery of high-quality products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• 5+ years of progressive quality assurance and quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 5+ years experience supporting AS9100 or ISO9001 Quality Management Systems in manufacturing.
• Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
• Ability to mentor quality personnel and lead cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead quality strategy and provide direction to Quality Engineers and Technicians.
• Develop and maintain quality plans to ensure effective program implementation.
• Assign and prioritize daily workload for Quality Engineers and Technicians.
• Monitor key quality metrics and report performance to leadership.
• Facilitate risk assessments and FMEA activities with preventive controls.
• Lead investigations into significant quality issues, escapes, and customer complaints.
• Drive process efficiency and resource optimization while maintaining compliance.
• Define activities, processes, and standards to meet quality requirements for spacesuits and space systems.
• Audit, monitor, and determine quality across internal and external processes.
• Report and troubleshoot manufacturing deviations and non-conformances.
• Provide root cause analysis and corrective actions, monitoring progress.
• Report monthly on non-conformances and implement preventative actions.
• Apply SPC methods to analyze data and evaluate processes.
• Prepare and present technical information to teams and management.
• Review and approve drawings, test procedures, and manufacturing instructions per QMS.
• Ensure all engineering requirements are met prior to product acceptance.
