Job summary

Western State Hospital in Staunton, Virginia, seeks a psychiatrist to serve as Head of the Treatment Team (HOTT). The Psychiatrist acts as a clinical leader, delivering comprehensive psychiatric care in an inpatient forensic and civil commitment setting and directing a multidisciplinary team to implement recovery-oriented treatment plans.

In addition to direct patient care, the role provides clinical oversight, teaching and supervision of trainees, and participation in medical staff activities

Qualifications

• Medical degree and completion of an ACGME-approved residency in psychiatry.
• Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Virginia.
• Current DEA registration.
• Strong leadership and supervision of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric care to inpatients with forensic and civil commitments.
• Lead and supervise the treatment team to develop individualized plans.
• Perform assessments, psychopharmacologic management, and psychotherapy.
• Ensure timely clinical documentation and CMS compliance.
• Coordinate discharge planning and liaise with community services.
• Participate in medical staff meetings and quality improvement activities.
• Oversee staff supervision and training of trainees.
• Review treatment plans and orders; provide clinical consultation.
• Ensure patient safety and continuity of care.
