Job summary

Western State Hospital in Staunton, VA seeks a full-time Psychologist II to evaluate individuals with serious mental disorders and coordinate needed services. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maximize recovery and contribute to transition planning within community care settings.

The role includes supervising at least one mental health worker and participating in department and state-wide committees as assigned. Virginia licensure within one year is required or eligible.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
• License or license-eligible to practice clinical psychology in Virginia (within one year of hire).
• Experience applying psychological assessment and intervention for individuals with serious mental disorders.
• Forensic evaluation training completion or eligibility in Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate individuals with serious mental disorders and determine needed services.
• Collaborate with other care disciplines to maximize interdisciplinary care.
• Plan effective transitions and continued recovery in community settings.
• Supervise at least one mental health worker and participate in system-level duties.
