Job summary

WSP is seeking a Protective Relaying Engineer – Lead Professional for our Seattle, WA office. The role focuses on design, engineering, and studies of protection systems for bulk power equipment, with potential remote arrangements and travel.

The candidate will lead project teams, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with the ESSP group. Requires ABET-accredited degree, 7–10 years of experience, and a PE license, with knowledge of protection standards and software tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
• 7–10 years of post-education experience in protective relaying for power systems.
• PE license or ability to obtain one.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Proven commitment to safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams on client projects to meet scope, schedule and budget.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Conduct protection analyses and oversee data collection on site.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE/ANSI/NERC PRC standards.
• Coordinate with ESSP and project stakeholders.
