Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, VA, seeks a program/project leader to oversee operational aspects of active projects and ensure performance aligns with budgets and schedules. This role acts as the liaison among project management, planning, the project team, and line management.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree with 6+ years in progressive roles, or a master’s with 4+ years, plus the ability to manage a complex portfolio in a naval shipbuilding environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master's Degree and 4+ years of relevant experience
• Equivalent qualifications include NNPS/Apprentice School graduates or military experience
• Military Paygrade E-5+ or equivalent military background may satisfy requirements
• High School/GED with 4–8 years in manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades or related exempt/non-exempt experience

Responsibilities

• Oversees and manages operational aspects of ongoing projects
• Serves as liaison between project management, planning, team and line management
• Reviews project status, budgets, schedules and prepares status reports
• Develops mechanisms to monitor progress and resolve issues with managers and clients
