Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, seeks a Project Manager to oversee operational aspects of ongoing naval projects and to serve as the liaison among project management, planning, and line management.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of exempt experience, or a Master’s degree with 4 years of experience, plus equivalent alternatives such as NNPS, Apprentice School, or military credentials. This is a full-time, on-site position in Goose Creek, SC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience (or equivalent).
• Master’s degree and 4 years of relevant professional experience.
• Equivalents: NNS Apprentice School graduate; Navy Nuclear Power School graduate; Associate's Degree or other 2 year program with 2 years exempt experience or 4 years non-exempt experience; Military Paygrade E-5 or above; High School/GED with 4 years manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience; High School/GED with 8 years manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and manages operational aspects of ongoing projects and liaises between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
• Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
• Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals.
• Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
