Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a project engineer to support the project team on a range of smaller and larger complex projects. The role acts as a lead technical resource on smaller projects, coordinating with management and stakeholders to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

You will interpret plans and specifications, assemble submittals, procure equipment and services, and assist in selecting subcontractors. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent education
• Minimum 3 years' experience
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC/plumbing systems and general operations
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office (Excel)

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with management and stakeholders and informs them on issues affecting project timeline and budget
• Manages change orders; ensures accurate completion and tracking; expedites materials as needed; estimates impact of changes
• Provides interpretation of plans and specifications
• Assembles complete submittal packages and other required project documentation information
• Procures equipment, materials, and services; participates in subcontractor selection and hiring
• Analyzes and resolves more complex questions and problems as needed
