Job summary

New York Power Authority seeks a Project Engineer II to lead complex energy‑efficiency retrofit projects from initiation to closeout, ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety standards. The role coordinates cross‑functional teams, manages consultants, supports bids, and ensures compliance with codes and stakeholder expectations.

This position requires strong project management capabilities, deep technical knowledge of building energy‑efficiency technologies and MEP

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Energy Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of experience with at least 3 years in project/construction management.
• Experience with energy‑efficiency retrofit projects in utilities or related industries.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex projects from initiation through closeout, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, quality and safety requirements.
• Coordinate in‑house and external resources for all project activities.
• Ensure licensing, permitting, safety, code compliance and stakeholder inputs are incorporated.
• Develop and manage design documents, budgets, forecasts, and bid documents; evaluate proposals and make award recommendations.
• Negotiate contract changes, coordinate construction sequencing, and oversee testing and inspections.
• Review project documentation, drawings and reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and supervise maintenance staff and contractors.
• Schedule work activities with planners and ensure safe, compliant field execution.
