As Lead Project Engineer, you can leverage your education and knowledge with hands-on professional experience working on residential, industrial, and commercial land development projects.
This role is eligible for Remote work in the US in accordance with our teleworking policies.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Engineers & technical staff.
- Lead/manage complex engineering tasks and projects.
- Demonstrate mastery of fundamental project management skills and use PM advanced techniques/practices to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Maintain a long-term perspective when reviewing technical work to optimize effectiveness of results.
- Actively support corporate mission, goals, strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Promote effective communication & collaboration internally.
- Create CAD drawings and details for site, subdivision, and infrastructure plans.
- Contribute to the preparation of full sets of construction plans.
- Site layout and utility design including water, sanitary, and storm sewer systems.
- Horizontal and vertical roadway design.
- Prepare erosion and sediment control plans.
- Generate SWM/BMP facilities hydrologic computations.
- Site & House grading.
- Waterline analysis.
- Complete SWM plans and design BMP facilities.
- Prepare site work quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and bond estimates.
- Prepare planning/zoning exhibits & plans.
- Utilize ITE manual, lighting software, landscaping, HY-8, & etc.
- Perform quality control and plan reviews.
- Plan—CDP’s, GDP’s, CUP’s, layout feasibilities, site feasibilities, grading studies, etc.
- Coordinate with other staff as necessary.
- Manage deadlines and communicate progress of multiple ongoing projects.
- Assist project managers with deliverables for city/county/federal/private submissions.
- Site visits to inspect and document conditions and/or construction progress and assist in field revisions and as-built projects (if local).
- Any other assigned tasks.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4-7 years’ experience with design and management of land development engineering projects.
- Experience with preparing and processing land development applications is preferred.
- Management and/or Project Management experience is strongly preferred; a proven track record in effective staff management/leadership is a plus.
- Experience working with a variety of transportation projects: roadway, highway, etc.
- Proven ability to contribute to plan preparation on all phases of an engineering design project while utilizing advanced engineering principles.
- Proven ability to work independently to solve engineering design issues as well as providing justification for corresponding work changes.
- Adaptable approach to learn and apply new skills effectively.
- Proactive ability to investigate/seize opportunities to improve work products (especially with a corresponding sense of pride and ownership in your work!).
- Ability to establish credibility in the field via professional organizations and other networking opportunities.
- Proven ability to manage relationships with clients and external partners/contractors.
- GIS experience preferred.

- Familiarity with industry standards and requirements.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D, Hydraflow, Storm and Sanitary Analysis, WaterCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

Education/Experience
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or similar field of study from an accredited university is preferred but not required.
- EIT certification is preferred; willingness to pursue further education and attain certifications including but not limited to PE, DEQ SWM Inspector, DEQ Plan Reviewer, Responsible Land Disturber, etc.
