Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Lead Project Accountant to coordinate all phases of the construction job costing process across multiple projects, ensuring accurate cost categorization, recording, analysis, and reporting while supporting project managers and managing vendor risk.

You will supervise a team of project accountants, uphold internal controls, and drive process improvements in accounting policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or Construction Management.
• Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to transfer knowledge to junior staff.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
• Analytical abilities to resolve difficult issues.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Flexible in a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

• Ensures accurate and timely processing of assigned financial transactions.
• Maintains integrity of accounting systems and internal controls.
• Coordinates collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; prepares reports.
• Keeps knowledge of best practices and regulations; recommends policy changes.
• Works with the accounting manager on fiscal strategies for the organization.
• Leads departmental projects to implement new policies and procedures.
• Reviews analyses of complex accounting issues.
• Coaches and supervises less-experienced Project Accountants.
