Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Project Accountant to coordinate all phases of the construction job costing process, including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings on a large project, with responsibility for vendor compliance and risk management.

You will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely and accurate accounting throughout the project life cycle, with emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality, and meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3-5 years of project accounting experience preferred.
• Strong accounting knowledge.
• Strong organization skills with high level of attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
• Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
• Processes project accounts payable and subcontracts payable.
• Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s.
• Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through job cost tracking reports.
• Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information.
• Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.
