Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Project Accountant to coordinate all phases of construction job costing, including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings for a large project and several smaller ones. The role ensures vendor compliance to manage project risk and works with the Project Manager to maintain accurate accounting through the project life cycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years’ of project accounting experience preferred.
• Strong accounting knowledge required.
• Strong organization skills with high attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Computer proficiency with MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
• Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
• Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s.
• Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through job cost tracking reports.
• Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.
• Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project-related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.
