Job summary

Southland Industries, a leading national MEP contractor, seeks a Project Accountant to coordinate all phases of construction job costing. You will categorize, record, analyze and monitor costs and billings, collaborating with the Project Manager to ensure timely, accurate accounting and risk management through the project life cycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred
• 3-5 years of project accounting experience preferred
• Strong accounting knowledge
• Strong organization skills with high level of attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong ability to prioritize an multi-task
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure

Responsibilities

• Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
• Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
• Processes project accounts payable and subcontracts payable.
• Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s.
• Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through job cost tracking reports.
• Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.
• Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.
