Job summary

Southland Industries seeks an Associate Project Accountant to support project accounting on construction projects and partner with the Project Management team to ensure timely, accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include accurate reporting, month-end closing, forecast accuracy, and maintaining project financial records; requires 1-3 years of experience, basic accounting knowledge, and proficiency with MS Office tools.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years’ project accounting experience preferred.
• Basic accounting knowledge.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving ability.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Ability to analyze and resolve basic accounting issues.
• Confidentiality and discretion.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate reporting of financial information and timely invoicing pertaining to a particular project.
• Disseminates month-end project reports to management and relevant business lines.
• Maintains list of month-end deadlines and ensures profit and cash flow forecasts are prepared on time and accurately.
• Reviews project forecasts and addresses outstanding matters promptly.
• Maintains project register; prepares month-end postings/allocations and accruals; controls AP/AR for the project.
• Identifies and assists with resolution of basic project-related accounting issues.
• Ensures policies and procedures for project accounting are adhered to.
