Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Lead Production Technician for the third shift in Somerville, MA. You will lead a hands-on team building high‑tech magnets and assemblies, ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include training technicians, developing processes with engineers, and performing precise hardware builds with calibration tools. The role demands a strong safety focus and the ability to manage change in a dynamic production setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/equivalency or higher.
• 2+ years in formal leadership in manufacturing.
• 6+ years in mechanical/electrical assembly, plumbing, vacuum, epoxy potting, injection molding, cryogenics, soldering, wiring.
• Safety and quality mindset with ability to coach team.
• Strong accountability and leadership to direct a team.

Responsibilities

• Hire, lead, and train technicians and welders to build electromechanical parts focusing on quality, cost, and delivery.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and technicians to develop/qualify new techniques.
• Perform production hardware builds per procedures and test instructions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing discrepancies for continuous improvement.
• Use torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness standards across work areas.
• Provide feedback during biannual performance reviews.
• Attend to other related duties as assigned.
