Job summary

Armstrong World Industries in Macon, GA is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead a 20-person production crew responsible for ceiling tile manufacturing. You will coach staff, schedule work, and drive improvements to yield, throughput, and quality.

You will partner with maintenance and engineering to optimize equipment performance and reliability while applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce costs and enhance safety. This is a full-time manufacturing role based on site.

Qualifications

• Recent work experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Highly effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and successfully execute tasks in accordance with business objectives.
• Proven ability to implement change in manufacturing and/or maintenance systems.
• Basic computer proficiency with email and with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Basic knowledge of key OSHA regulations (such as Confined Spaces, Electrical Safety, Energy Isolation and Machine Safeguarding).
• Proven incident investigation skills and familiarity with structured tools (such as Root Cause Failure Analysis or 5 Why).
• Ability to and willingness to work different shifts.

Responsibilities

• Leads, manages, hires, and trains a production crew of about 20 employees.
• Promotes and ensures a safe work environment, including training the crew and adhering to Company and governmental policies and regulations.
• Ensures production goals are met or exceeded, including yield, throughput, and quality.
• Participates in continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement techniques.
• Meets objectives for Plant Reliability measures (% uptime, % line rate, % scrap rate).
• Ensures equipment maintenance and optimization, providing training for the crew and handling equipment troubleshooting.
• Prepares daily production schedules and ensuring schedule adherence.
• Ensures environmental compliance.
• Works with maintenance and engineering to optimize the equipment performance and reliability.
