Job summary

Armstrong World Industries, Steel Ceilings subsidiary, seeks a manufacturing supervisor in Johnstown, Ohio. Lead 5-8 frontline staff, ensuring safety, quality, and timely production. Direct shift activities, enforce policies, and mentor team to meet objectives in a dynamic plant.

Ideal candidates will read blueprints, operate and program equipment, and communicate with Quality and maintenance. Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with PLC/HMI/CNC or EPICOR is a plus; a strong collaborator

Qualifications

• Experience leading or managing people in a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and use computers for programming equipment.
• Proficient with fabrication equipment and maintenance; MS Office.
• Willing to learn PLC, HMI, CNC, EPICOR and Trello Production Tracking.

Responsibilities

• Conduct shift meetings covering safety, quality, and daily goals.
• Ensure safety standards are followed and communicated to direct reports.
• Complete proper paperwork for accidents and notify EHS; report near misses.
• Coordinate with Plant Coordinator or Plant Manager on employment standards and issues.
• Attend required training programs and conform to company policies.
• Maintain high level of customer focus while producing quality products.
• Address staffing needs, schedule manpower and assign work.
• Train employees and work with procurement on material issues.
• Operate machinery, set up complex tooling and equipment, and log results.
• Interpret process sheets for workers and keep equipment clean.
• Collaborate with Quality to resolve floor issues and uphold standards.
• Keep records of production, waste, and quality checks.
• Willing to work split shift and overtime as required.
