Responsibilities

• Develop maximum customer relations by produce department personnel through personal example of friendliness and courtesy, and implementation of all company polices.
• Be alert and assist in store security.
• Be perceptive and handle customer complaints.
• Make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, disciplining, demoting, transferring and evaluating all produce department personnel.
• Indoctrinate department employees and ensure they can read scales and prices correctly.
• Provide knowledge and training of price marking and customer courtesy; ensure learned skills are utilized.
• Supervise salad bar operations.
• Discuss schedules with store manager to maximize efficiency for full and part-time staff.
• Maintain a neat appearance and proper uniforms for staff.
• Maintain good communication with store personnel.
• Plan, direct, and control activities of the produce department; may act in absence of store manager.
• Direct receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of all produce products.
• Maintain adequate stock by proper ordering; keep inventories optimal.
• Submit records and reports; maintain clean areas and proper disposal of waste.
• Ensure adequate supplies on hand; bags, pricing, equipment.
• Continuously analyze all aspects of the department and implement changes.
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements to staff.
• Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, professional in all interactions.
• Demonstrate aptitude to manage people and workloads.
• Perform duties assigned by store manager or supervisor.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a constructive manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
