Job summary

• Understanding of department operations: managing people, merchandising, computer-assisted ordering, inventory control, and labor scheduling.
• Working knowledge of produce and preparation and general store operations.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop maximum customer relations by lead-by-example and policy implementation.
• Be alert and assist in store security.
• Handle customer complaints effectively.
• Oversee hiring, firing, discipline, transfers, and evaluations for produce staff.
• Induct new employees; ensure they can read scales and prices correctly.
• Train staff on price marking and customer courtesy for productivity.
• Supervise salad bar operations and staffing schedules for both full- and part-time employees.
• Ensure proper uniforming, appearance, and identification of staff.
• Maintain clear communication with store personnel and plan/organize department activities.
• Direct receiving, storage, pricing, and merchandising of all produce products.
• Maintain adequate stock by ordering to keep inventories optimal.
• Maintain records and reports; ensure clean and orderly work areas.
