Job summary

Herzog Energy, Inc. is seeking an experienced Preconstruction/Design Engineer to oversee preconstruction and design for utility-scale solar and BESS projects across the United States.

You will lead cross-functional teams, coordinate with clients, and ensure design documents meet project goals and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, collaboration, and travel to project sites; you will manage budgets, schedules, and risk, while promoting Herzog's culture and commitment to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, design-build, or preconstruction management.
• Experience with utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects preferred.
• Strong understanding of solar PV, BESS, construction methods, and project delivery processes.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preconstruction and design process from development through project execution.
• Collaborate with engineers, estimators, procurement, and construction personnel.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources during preconstruction.
• Foster relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance during design and preconstruction phases.
• Troubleshoot constructability issues to manage cost and schedule risks.
• Oversee development and review of design documents, drawings, and specs.
• Ensure compliance with standards for utility-scale solar and BESS construction.
• Lead value engineering efforts to optimize cost and performance.
• Support handoff to estimating, procurement, and construction teams.
