Job summary

Lumicity is partnering with a growing engineering consultancy expanding its Power Systems & Renewable Energy capabilities and hiring a Lead Power Systems Studies Engineer. This senior role combines advanced power-system studies, technical leadership, QA/QC, mentoring and client interaction across complex renewable energy, substation and large-load projects.

You'll remain technically involved while taking responsibility for the quality and execution of studies produced by the wider engineering

Job description

I’m partnering with a growing engineering consultancy that is expanding its Power Systems & Renewable Energy capabilities and looking to hire a Lead Power Systems Studies Engineer.

This is a senior technical position combining advanced power-system studies, technical leadership, QA/QC, mentoring and client interaction across complex renewable energy, substation and large-load projects.

You'll remain technically involved while taking responsibility for the quality and execution of studies produced by the wider engineering team.

What you'll be doing

You'll lead and review studies including:

• Load Flow / Power Flow
• Arc Flash
• Protection / Relay Coordination
• Harmonics
• Grounding
• Reactive Power Compensation
• Ampacity
• TOV / TRV
• Insulation Coordination
• Transformer Energization
• Induced Voltage

Alongside the technical work, you'll:

• Lead the technical execution of multiple projects
• Review studies and provide technical QA/QC
• Mentor and provide technical direction to other Power Systems Engineers
• Assign technical tasks across project teams
• Work directly with clients to explain results and present engineering solutions
• Support proposals, project planning, risk assessment and project execution
• Collaborate with engineering teams operating across multiple locations

What they're looking for

Ideally, you'll bring 8+ years of power-system studies experience supporting projects such as:

Solar PV | BESS | Wind | Substations | Collector Systems | Data Centers

Experience within an engineering consultancy would be particularly attractive.

You'll also need:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• Strong technical background in power-system studies
• Experience with tools such as ETAP, SKM, ASPEN, PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF, CDEGS and/or WINGIS
• Experience executing projects within the power sector
• Familiarity with NERC, PJM, ERCOT and/or MISO
• Strong client-facing and technical communication skills

This would suit someone who's already operating at Senior, Lead or Principal level and wants a role where they can continue doing technically challenging work while helping develop the next generation of engineers.
