Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in power systems analysis, ideally in renewable energy.
  • Strong knowledge of IEEE and other industry standards.
  • PE license is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with tools such as ETAP, CYMCAP, WinIGS, PSCAD, and/or EMTP‑RV.
  • Proven people leadership and project oversight experience.
  • PE license strongly preferred.

  • Manage team workload and staffing.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams and PMO to align scope, schedules, and deliverables

Job description

A leading renewable energy engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Director of Power Studies to lead and grow its Power Systems Studies function.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a technically strong power systems professional who enjoys building teams, setting technical direction, and partnering across engineering disciplines to deliver high‑quality solutions for utility scale renewable energy projects.

This individual will oversee complex power system studies, serve as a technical authority, and collaborate closely with PV, BESS, Substation Engineering, and Project Management teams to support successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership for power system studies including arc flash, short circuit, coordination, grounding, ampacity, reactive power, and transient studies
  • Act as Engineer of Record (EOR) on select projects and ensure high‑quality, compliant deliverables
  • Establish and maintain technical standards, methodologies, and best practices
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams and PMO to align scope, schedules, and deliverables
  • Manage team workload, staffing, and capacity planning
  • Lead hiring, mentoring, training, and career development of Power Studies staff
  • Oversee financial performance of the group and support budget planning
  • Serve as a senior technical contact for clients and ensure high levels of satisfaction
