Job summary

BBA Consultants seeks a Senior Engineer specializing in Power System Studies to join its Eastern United States consulting team. The role delivers engineering and advisory services to electric utilities, renewable developers, ISOs/RTOs, and public agencies.

The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise, consulting experience, leadership and mentoring skills, and will manage projects, budgets and client relationships while creating growth opportunities across the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (required).
• 8-12+ years in transmission planning or utility/ISO engineering.
• Experience in consulting or client-facing engineering roles.
• Proficiency with power system modeling tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, CYME and Synergi.
• Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Proven track record in client-facing roles or business development.
• Master's degree in Power Systems, Electrical Engineering or related field is a plus.
• Experience with EMT and IBR modeling is an asset.
• Utility, ISO/RTO, or renewable developer support experience is valuable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical advisor to utility and renewable energy clients.
• Lead engineering studies including load flow, contingency analysis, stability, and reliability assessments.
• Support utilities and developers with interconnection studies.
• Build and validate models using PSSE, PowerWorld, PSCAD, ASPEN, and related tools.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional project teams.
• Manage project scopes, budgets, and deliverables while maintaining strong client relationships.
• Build relationships with utilities, developers and technology projects across Eastern United States.
• Lead the preparation of proposals including defining scope with clients, budget and schedule estimation, and presentation of proposals to clients.
• Collaborate with the Eastern US Engineering Director to execute strategy for power & renewable market positioning.
