Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. in Minnesota seeks an experienced electrical power systems engineer to lead the design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of protection and automation systems.

You will mentor engineers, deliver customer training, and develop technical proposals while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Travel (domestic and international) is required; PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of electric power systems engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of protection, control, automation, communications and integration technologies.
• Experience with power system design, studies, protective relay applications, and communications.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (≥25%).
• Background checks and drug testing completed.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of protection and automation systems.
• Serve as technical leader for projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery and high quality.
• Provide technical training and support to customers during project implementation and operation.
• Develop technical proposals, project estimates, and customer solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify customer needs and develop engineering solutions.
• Mentor and develop engineers and other professionals; provide leadership as needed.
