Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a qualified electrical power systems engineer with 5+ years of experience in utility or industrial settings. You will apply power system studies knowledge to complex assignments and lead customer training on automation and protection systems.

The role requires travel up to 25% and strong communication skills. PE licensure is preferred; project management experience is a plus. SEL offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years experience with electric power systems, industry practices, and studies philosophies.
• Knowledge of protection and control, automation, and communications.
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally at least 25%.
• Strong writing, documentation and speaking skills.
• Able to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.
• Able to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Background check satisfactory to SEL; negative drug test results.
• PE license preferred; project management experience a plus.
• Experience with PSSE/ETAP/RTDS as applicable.
• Focus Area = Studies; Studies experience with PSSE/ETAP/RTDS

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of power system studies and SEL products to complex assignments.
• Lead training and support of customers on automation and protection systems.
• Manage scope, schedule and budget with safety and quality focus.
• Assist in preparing and presenting proposals for SEL equipment and services.
• Mentor staff and possibly supervise project activities.
• Model and apply SEL Values and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
