Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a Senior Protection Engineer in Lakewood, CO to design, test, and implement protection and control schemes for critical electrical infrastructure.

You will develop protective relay settings for utilities and industrial clients, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and perform commissioning to ensure reliable power system operation. A strong background in power protection and relevant standards is required.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in electrical engineering or relevant discipline.
• 10+ years experience in protection engineering or a related field.
• Strong understanding of power system protection principles and relay coordination.
• Familiarity with IEEE, IEC, and NERC/FERC regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement protection and control schemes for power systems.
• Create protective relay settings for transmission, distribution, substations, and industrial clients.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technicians to assess system requirements and implement protection strategies.
• Perform system testing and commissioning to validate protection schemes.
