Job summary

Drove Aeropower is seeking a Lead Electrical Power Systems Engineer to own the electrical architecture of our power generation platform. You will oversee the complete power system from generator terminals through protection, switchgear, controls, and interconnection, guiding the project from early architecture to prototype, commissioning and production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in power generation or large electrical systems.
• Experience with one-line diagrams, protection schemes, and system studies.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for the power generation platform.
• Define interfaces between generator, controls, switchgear, relays, PLCs, and customer systems.
• Perform load-flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, grounding, arc-flash, and power-quality studies.
• Develop generator protection schemes: differential, reverse power, overcurrent, ground fault, loss of excitation, negative sequence, and over/under voltage and frequency.
• Define synchronization, paralleling, islanding, and black-start requirements where applicable.
• Write requirements and RFQs, then manage suppliers through design, procurement, FAT, and integration, reviewing vendor drawings, calculations, and test documentation.
• Support prototype assembly, checkout, relay testing, synchronization, load-bank testing, and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot integration and field issues, and turn the prototype into a repeatable production design.
