As a trusted talent partner, Infotel is working with Drove Aeropower to build a world-class team. We are looking for outstanding candidates who are eager to contribute to a dynamic and growing organization.
About Drove Aeropower
Drove Aeropower builds advanced gas turbine systems for some of the most demanding applications in energy and defense, built around high power density, rapid deployment, and domestic manufacturing. We move with the speed and ownership of a startup while tackling engineering problems normally reserved for much larger organizations.
Own the power system, from terminals to first power.
Drove Aeropower is seeking a Lead Electrical Power Systems Engineer to own the electrical architecture and integration of our power generation platform. You will own the complete power system, from the generator terminals through protection, switchgear, controls, and customer interconnection, and carry it from early architecture through prototype, commissioning, and production.
Senior, and hands-on. Develop the one-line. Specify the major equipment. Work directly with suppliers. Be on the floor for system integration and first power.
What You Will Own
- The electrical architecture. One-line diagrams, equipment specifications, load lists, cable schedules, interface documents, and protection requirements.
- Generator and excitation. Synchronous generator interfaces and requirements, excitation systems, and automatic voltage regulation.
- Switchgear and distribution. Switchgear, generator circuit breakers, transformers, and auxiliary power distribution.
- Protection and grounding. Protective relay philosophy, generator protection, and grounding and bonding.
- Synchronization and power quality. Synchronization, paralleling, load sharing, metering, and power quality.
- Interconnection and safety. Customer and utility interfaces, electrical safety, commissioning, and test strategy.
What You Will Do
- Lead electrical design for our power generation platform.
- Define and manage interfaces between the generator, prime-mover controls, excitation, switchgear, relays, PLCs, and customer electrical systems.
- Perform or oversee load-flow, short-circuit, protection-coordination, grounding, arc-flash, and power-quality studies.
- Develop generator protection schemes: differential, reverse power, overcurrent, ground fault, loss of excitation, negative sequence, and over/under voltage and frequency.
- Define synchronization, paralleling, islanding, and black-start requirements where applicable.
- Write requirements and RFQs, then manage suppliers through design, procurement, FAT, and integration, reviewing vendor drawings, calculations, and test documentation.
- Support prototype assembly, checkout, relay testing, synchronization, load-bank testing, and commissioning.
- Troubleshoot integration and field issues, and turn the prototype into a repeatable production design.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 7+ years in power generation, industrial power systems, large rotating equipment, or medium-voltage electrical systems
- Strong command of three-phase AC power systems, synchronous generators, switchgear, transformers, grounding, and protection
- Experience specifying or integrating large synchronous generators or comparable high-power electrical systems
- Proven work with one-line diagrams, protection schemes, equipment specifications, and system studies, using ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, or equivalent
- Working knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NFPA 70E, NEMA, and related standards
- Independence to make system-level decisions and drive technical closure across disciplines
- Willingness to work directly with hardware during test and commissioning
Bonus Points
Experience in any of these is highly valuable:
- Generator synchronization and paralleling
- Medium-voltage switchgear
- SEL, GE Multilin, Siemens, or ABB protection
- Generator and transformer differential protection
- Islanded operation and black-start systems
- FAT and field commissioning
You Will Thrive Here If
- You're comfortable at both the system and component level: review a generator proposal in the morning, work through fault-current requirements in the afternoon, and support commissioning on the hardware the next day.
- You enjoy open-ended problems, working directly with suppliers, and building new systems rather than maintaining mature ones.
- You want technical ownership, and the chance to take a new power-generation platform from concept to first power.
Why Drove Aeropower
- A foundational role. Define the electrical architecture of the platform and carry it through development, test, and production.
- A platform with a purpose. Our platform pairs advanced prime-mover technology with modern generation, controls, and distribution.
- One of the first. As one of Drove's first employees, you will have a real voice in the decisions that shape the product and the company.
- A founder who has done it before. Drove's founder has already successfully built a company, and you will help build the next one.
