Job summary

PacifiCorp in Portland, OR seeks experienced electrical engineers to design protection systems for transmission and distribution, lead project teams, and ensure compliance with NERC, FERC and WECC.

The role requires ABET‑accredited degree and 5+ years in power systems; SR II needs 6+ years and PE preferred. Travel for project work is expected, with a strong focus on reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology.
• Five+ years of experience in industrial power systems or related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of engineering principles in specialty area.
• Project management and leadership skills, ability to work in teams and meet timelines/budgets.
• Working knowledge of FERC, NERC, WECC standards and NEC.
• Ability to work under pressure with composure; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop protection system schematic designs
• Conduct short circuit and symmetrical component analysis
• Perform protection system coordination studies (local and wide area)
• Develop relay settings and protection system automation logic
• Maintain departmental databases and system models
• Conduct arc flash analysis
• Manage integration with SCADA systems
• Develop complex electrical engineering studies and protect system criteria
• Provide peer review as part of QA/QC for engineering design and studies
• Guide and direct level I–III engineers, technicians, and drafters
• Act as lead/expert and provide guidance to management on complex problems
• Deliver on commitments and analyze engineering methods
• Comply with NERC, FERC and WECC regulations
• Recommend engineering solutions to meet business needs
• Supervise focused engineering teams on projects and processes
• Occasional travel for project work and training
