Job summary

Port of Oakland seeks a Port Supervising Civil Engineer to direct a section, manage complex Port projects, and apply extensive knowledge of department goals, objectives and policies.

You will plan, design, review, and manage public works projects, supervise staff, and coordinate across divisions and agencies while ensuring projects stay on time and within budget. The role requires PE licensure and leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college.
• PE registration required; leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with public works projects and capital improvement projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct and participate in the design, review, construction and project management of Port public works projects.
• Prepare and review complex engineering designs and economic analyses for public works.
• Develop and administer project schedules and budgets to ensure timely completion within budget.
• Manage Capital Improvement Projects across Aviation, Maritime and Commercial Real Estate divisions; coordinate with revenue divisions and agencies.
• Draft and negotiate contracts with consultants; review reports and plans submitted by consultants.
