Job summary

City of Port Angeles is seeking a City Engineer to lead engineering programs and capital projects. You will oversee staff, budgets, and major public works initiatives for the City, ensuring high standards and compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements.

The role requires a PE and a bachelor’s degree in engineering, with responsibility for strategic planning, grant coordination, and coordination with City leadership and advisory bodies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license at the time of appointment or within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee management and budget of capital/transportation programs and staff.
• Provide supervision, mentoring, and performance evaluations of engineering staff.
• Direct procurement, contracts, and consultant management for public works projects.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards.
• Prepare and present reports to City leadership and committees.
