Job summary

The Port of Oakland seeks a Port Associate Engineer (Civil Work) to perform advanced civil engineering tasks under general supervision and to supervise engineers and technicians. The role emphasizes design, field inspections, and project coordination for public works projects at the port.

Responsibilities include leading design efforts, preparing plans and specifications, managing budgets and schedules, and coordinating with other departments, consultants, and agencies to ensure code compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering plus three years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration required at selection.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate with technicians and staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise engineers and technicians on public works projects.
• Act as Engineer-in-Charge for Port civil engineering design.
• Prepare plans, specifications, budgets, cost estimates and schedules.
• Inspect sites and guide design efforts during construction.
• Coordinate with other Port departments and external agencies.
