Job summary

The Port of Virginia is seeking a Professional Engineer (PE) to manage construction and engineering projects, bringing maritime expertise to guide major infrastructure from concept to completion. This role supports America's Most Modern Gateway by driving projects that advance commerce, connectivity, and Virginia’s economic prosperity.

The successful candidate will lead civil engineering initiatives, oversee construction management, and ensure projects meet safety, schedule, and budget targets

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of related experience in civil engineering or construction management.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and understanding of state/local construction regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Implement solutions that maximize safe operations at all Port of Virginia facilities.
  • Contribute to the execution of strategic initiatives to ensure the competitiveness of the Port of Virginia.
  • Provide support to operations to ensure all business case goals associated with projects are achieved quickly and reliably.
  • Oversee field-related operations associated with construction management. Determine and coordinate materials and equipment.
  • Gather required information to evaluate objectives, goals, and scope to create specifications.
  • Participate in the creation and evaluation of project design alternatives.
  • Ensure all targets and requirements are met and projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Communicate project status in a timely accurate manner, while mitigating risks and keeping stakeholders informed.
