Job summary

Hope College seeks a licensed Michigan Plumber to join the facilities maintenance team. Qualifications

• Must hold a Michigan Journeyman or Master Plumber license.
• High school diploma with 3–5 years of plumbing trade experience preferred in a maintenance environment.
• Ideal candidate will have a plumbing backflow prevention testing certificate or be willing to obtain certification.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license required.
• Ability to plan and organize work based on work orders and preventative maintenance requirements.
• Must have a demeanor able to handle stressful deadlines and communicate diplomatically.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and critique plumbing design documents for new and existing buildings and systems.
• Oversee and manage other college technicians and outside contractors on projects.
• Perform maintenance service, repair, troubleshooting, alterations on fixtures and systems.
• Determine and implement necessary preventative maintenance.
• Estimate material requirements and pricing and advise supervisor on equipment replacement.
• Ensure all work complies with current building codes and safety procedures.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and operating instructions.
• Collaborate with others and work with minimal supervision.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
