Job summary

West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Holland, MI is seeking a qualified plumbing technician for an hourly full-time role. A Michigan Journeyman or Master Plumber license is required, along with 3–5 years of trade experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Michigan Journeyman or Master Plumber License and be able to read construction drawings.
• High school diploma with 3–5 years in the trade; backflow prevention testing certification preferred.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license and ability to pass a physical exam.
• Computer skills to respond to work orders and communicate with campus staff.
• Ability to plan and organize work based on work orders and preventive maintenance requirements.
• Strong interpersonal skills to handle stressful deadlines and collaborate with others.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and critique plumbing design documents for new and existing buildings and systems.
• Oversee and manage other college technicians and outside contractors on projects.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand and power tools.
• Perform maintenance service, repair, troubleshooting, alterations and other work on fixtures and systems.
• Determine and implement necessary preventative maintenance.
• Estimate material requirements and pricing; submit recommendations to supervisor.
• Conduct all work in accordance with current building codes and safety procedures.
• Read and interpret construction drawing specifications and operating instructions.
• Work with others and carry out tasks without direct supervision.
• Adjust to changes in assigned tasks.
• Respond to emergency after-hours needs.
• Keep Journeyman or Master plumbing license current including attending required training in areas of responsibility.
