Job summary

Humana is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design and build core backend services and APIs, integrating AI capabilities while ensuring HIPAA-compliant protection of PHI. You will set platform standards, lead architecture reviews, and contribute to full-stack features using TypeScript and Next.js.

The role supports CenterWell AI engineering and requires coordinating security, reliability, and deployment practices.

Qualifications

8+ years of software engineering experience with backend and platform focus.
Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Python for API development.
Experience building scalable REST or GraphQL APIs.
Knowledge of OAuth2/OIDC and API security patterns.
HIPAA security basics and PHI handling knowledge.
Experience with Next.js and React for full-stack work.
Experience integrating AI-assisted development tools and LLMs.

Responsibilities

Design and lead development of core backend services, REST and GraphQL APIs.
Establish authentication, authorization, rate limiting; HIPAA security embedded.
Define AI integration patterns for product APIs and tool orchestration.
Build observability: logging, monitoring, alerting for scale.
Contribute to full-stack features using TypeScript/Next.js from API to UI.
Drive architecture reviews and backend engineering standards.
