Job summary

Humana's CenterWell unit seeks a Lead Full-Stack Engineer to design the platform and API layer that connects AI capabilities, data systems, and product frontends. You will help set security and deployment standards across the team.

As a lead contributor, you will shape architecture, implement reusable patterns for AI-enabled APIs, and deliver full-stack features using TypeScript and Next.js for care teams and patients across clinics.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with backend and platform focus.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Python for API development.
• Experience with REST or GraphQL APIs and scalable systems.
• Knowledge of OAuth2/OIDC and secure API design.
• HIPAA familiarity for PHI transmission, storage, and access control.
• Experience with Next.js and React for full-stack work.
• Ownership of complex backend systems end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead core backend services and APIs.
• Define security patterns, authentication, authorization, audit logging.
• Define AI integration patterns for product APIs.
• Build observability, logging, and reliability infrastructure.
• Contribute to full-stack features using TypeScript and Next.js.
• Lead architecture reviews and set backend standards.
