Job summary

Humana's CenterWell AI engineering team seeks a Lead Full-Stack Engineer to design and build the service layer connecting AI, data, and product frontends. You will guide API design, security, and deployment practices across the platform.

You will drive architecture reviews and contribute to end-to-end features using TypeScript and Next.js, shaping scalable, compliant backend systems for care delivery.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with backend focus.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python for API development.
• Experience building scalable REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Understanding of OAuth2/OIDC and API security patterns.
• HIPAA knowledge for PHI secure handling.
• Experience with Next.js and React for full-stack work.
• Ownership of complex backend systems end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead development of core backend services and APIs.
• Establish authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and audit logging patterns.
• Define AI integration patterns for product APIs and tooling.
• Build observability, monitoring, and reliability infrastructure.
• Contribute to product features end-to-end using TS and Next.js.
• Drive architecture reviews and engineering standards.
